top-news

Volunteers of the AAP Student Wing, Chatr-Yuva Sangharsh Samiti, took to the streets of Delhi on Tuesday in a torch march protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hailed the protest as a symbol of struggle against what they termed as “the tyranny of a dictator.”

Protest Details and Symbolism:

The students’ torch march, termed as “the torch of struggle,” aimed to express solidarity with Kejriwal and denounce what AAP sees as unjust treatment.
AAP characterized the protest as a response to what they perceive as attempts to silence dissent and target Kejriwal unfairly.

Kejriwal’s Arrest and Political Ramifications:

Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy money laundering case has sparked political upheaval.
Despite being in judicial custody at Tihar jail, Kejriwal was designated as AAP’s star campaigner for the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat.

AAP’s Social Media Post and Message from Jail:

AAP shared a message on social media, quoting Kejriwal’s assertion from Tihar jail: “My name is Arvind Kejriwal and I am not a terrorist,” drawing parallels with a famous line from the movie ‘My Name is Khan.’
The party’s social media post emphasized Kejriwal’s stance against perceived political targeting and unjust treatment.

Sanjay Singh’s Remarks and Allegations:

AAP leader Sanjay Singh, in a press conference, accused the BJP of trying to demoralize and undermine Kejriwal out of “malice and vendetta.”
Singh also raised concerns about differential treatment, highlighting an incident where a “notorious criminal” in Tihar jail was allowed a meeting with his lawyer and wife in the barrack, contrasting it with Kejriwal’s meeting arrangements.

The protest by AAP’s student wing signifies ongoing political tensions and debates surrounding Kejriwal’s arrest, with AAP portraying it as a fight against oppressive measures and political vendetta.
